Guizhou Changtong Electric Co – based in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – said on Dec 9 that after joint R&D with Guizhou University, its new intelligent switchgear products based on the internet of things had ramped up to large-scale production.

The company added that it is now placing orders from manufacturers.

The switchgear comprises electrical equipment that opens, closes, controls and protects in the process of power transformation, transmissions, distribution and power conversions.

They can be adapted for different uses – including at substations, rail transit facilities and at community power distribution stations.

For a long time, switchgear produced by enterprises generally had problems such as a low degree of intelligence, unstable product performances and cumbersome operations – restricting the high-quality development of various companies.

"In 2021, we carried out integrated experiments, development and applications of research results from the industry-university-research project 'Intelligent Switch Cabinet Online Monitoring Technology' and our company's existing invention patents," said company vice president Liu Bing.

"Through this method, we transformed them into new CT-SPC products based on the internet of things," he added. "Finally, we realized the commercialization and promotion of the new products".

The new product will monitor and provide feedback on the power voltage and other data from power equipment in real time, which can effectively ensure the power quality.

In addition, the company has transformed its production line and built an intelligent low-voltage power distribution system production line with an annual output of 1,000 sets.
