The wind turbine assembly production base of Dongfang Electric Corp was settled and began construction in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 25, becoming the first of its kind in the province.
The intelligent assembly base for wind turbines officially began construction in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The equipment for the base is scheduled to be delivered by June 30, and the production base will be ready to be put into operation before July 30. Once put into operation, it will have an annual capacity of 1 million kilowatts.
The project plans to have a total investment of around 1 billion yuan ($144.34 million), and will mainly produce 5-8 megawatt high-power generators that are suitable for Southwest China.
In addition, a blade production base will be constructed in Bijie's Weining county, forming a complete wind power industry chain with Guizhou's existing wind vane tower barrel manufacturers. This is according to Peng Yuanzhang, general manager of Dongfang Electric Wind Power (Guiyang) Co.
As a major State-owned company, Dongfang Electric Corp is one of the largest energy equipment manufacturing enterprises in the world. It has developed national pillar products, such as the largest onshore 8 MW wind turbine in China and the largest offshore 13 MW wind turbine in Asia.
"After the project is put into operation, it will save delivery time and transportation cycles for local wind power development projects in Guizhou, promoting the development of clean energy," said Peng.
