Guiyang experts join in national outstanding engineering team

The Guizhou Communications Bridge Construction Technology Team for Mountainous Canyons, composed of talented individuals from the Guizhou Provincial Highway Bureau and enterprises from the Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, has been awarded the title of "National Outstanding Engineering Team".

The ceremony for the National Engineer Awards was recently held in Beijing. Some 81 individuals were awarded the title of "National Outstanding Engineer", and 50 teams were awarded the title of "National Outstanding Engineering Team".

It is reported that the Guizhou team is led by Han Hongju, chief engineer of Guizhou Communications Construction Group. The team consists of 16 bridge experts.

They have overcome world-class challenges, such as constructing bridges in complex and changing mountainous canyons, the inability to use large equipment and traditional techniques, and the fragile ecological environment.

They pioneered seven internationally leading technologies in bridge construction processes, equipment, and materials. As of now, the team has participated in the construction of 34 bridges that are among the top 100 highest bridges in the world.

The team has received six international awards, including the Gustav Lindenthal Award, which is known as the "Nobel Prize of the bridge industry". It has successfully registered 56 invention patents, and has received more than 20 national engineering awards, such as the Zhantianyou Prize and the Luban Prize.
