Guiyang's Nanming district ignites sci-tech innovation

The Nanming district of Guiyang – capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province – was where it was all happening recently in terms of young excitement and passion for sci-tech innovation.

That's where the fourth Guizhou province leg of the National Youth Science and Technology Competition and the first Science and Technology Festival of Nanming District were held on June 1.

Over 1,000 teams from primary and secondary schools across the province participated in 15 on-site competition projects, with 186 teams from Nanming district joining the action there.

The competition featured projects in three categories: artificial intelligence, technological creative design and simulation innovation applications. Technological elements such as the digital Silk Road challenge and comprehensive drone applications were showcased.

The two events are said to have provided a platform for young folks from across the province to learn about technology, exchange sci-tech achievements and showcase their skills.

It also offered schools and teachers the chance to learn from each other – further promoting science education and popular science activities in primary and secondary schools.

Winning participants from the Guizhou regional leg will represent the province in the fourth National Youth Science and Technology Education Achievement Exhibition Contest later in the year.
