Guizhou Science City in Guiyang hosts seven national quality inspection centers. Supported by a cluster of national innovation platforms and leading enterprises, it has built several shared platforms in the inspection and testing sector, generating revenue exceeding 1.8 billion yuan ($248.08 million) in 2023.
Technicians at the National Food (Cloud Technology Application) Quality Inspection and Testing Center in Guizhou Science City are busy operating advanced instruments and analyzing food safety samples.
"Our laboratory spans 27,000 square meters and has over 1,000 precision testing devices. We have a professional team of more than 200 inspectors," said Wang Qianli, head of the center's Brand and R&D Department.
The center integrates IoT-enabled instruments, digitized testing processes, and digital information management to establish cloud-based standards for food testing. Over the years, it has conducted national, provincial, and municipal food safety inspections, serving over 10,000 enterprises.
As a key platform for technological innovation in Guizhou, the science city plays a pivotal role in developing the province's inspection and testing industry. Wang noted that since its establishment in 2017, the center has grown alongside Guizhou Science City.
In September, the Guizhou Provincial People's Government approved expanding the science city from 0.12 square kilometers to 20.64 square kilometers.
