According to Pan Jun, director of the Guiyang bureau of science and technology, the recent Guizhou Provincial Science and Technology Conference and the Science and Technology Awards Conference provided clear directions for advancing scientific and technological work. They emphasized key priorities for reforming the innovation system and offered actionable pathways.
The conferences outlined ambitious blueprints for achieving high-quality development in the province's science and technology innovation sector by 2030, with long-term goals for 2035.
"Our next steps will focus on steadfastly implementing Guiyang's science and technology innovation agenda while strengthening our efforts to build an innovative city," Pan stated.
Guiyang plans to establish a novel lifecycle cultivation system for enterprises, bolster the capacity of key innovation drivers, advance high-level platform development, and promote coordinated development among the Guizhou Science City, the Guiyang Big Data and Scientific Innovation City, the Huaxi University City, and the Qingzhen Vocational Education City. Guiyang also aims to construct a comprehensive science and technology financial service framework to incentivize innovation among various stakeholders.
The bureau will deepen reforms in the science and technology system, enhance the operation of the Sci-Tech Cloud platform, and roll out support measures such as tech information specialist services and innovation vouchers. By streamlining connections between supply-side players (universities and research institutions), demand-side participants (sci-tech enterprises), and service providers (technology managers), Guiyang seeks to foster deeper integration of technological and industrial innovation. These efforts aim to consolidate resources, unleash innovation potential, and establish a robust scientific foundation to support the city's development as a "strong provincial capital".
