On Dec 6, Guizhou PIX Moving Intelligent Technology Co, based in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, announced that its self-developed autonomous shuttle bus, Robobus, has become a striking feature in Shenzhen's Lianhuashan Park. The innovative vehicle has attracted over 6,000 Shenzhen and Hong Kong residents to experience its test rides.
Since Nov 22, Robobus has offered free autonomous shuttle services between the park's Jinian Garden and Rainforest Valley. Each trip covers 450 meters and lasts approximately eight minutes.
The service will run until Dec 31, operating Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm. Visitors can board the Robobus at the entrance of the Jinian Garden.
The Robobus features a symmetrical design with no distinction between the front and rear. Its autonomous driving system is supported by platform and cabin integration, eliminating traditional components like a driver's cabin, steering wheel, pedals, and rearview mirrors.
The spacious interior accommodates up to six passengers, including a safety officer. The officer monitors and manages the vehicle's autonomous driving through sensors such as laser radars, positioning devices, and a vehicle control platform, ensuring real-time road information processing.
Two visitors from Hong Kong commented, "The shuttle moves at a slow, steady pace, providing a comfortable ride. The overhead screen displays surrounding pedestrians and obstacles. Whenever a pedestrian inadvertently steps into its path, it stops smoothly, showcasing remarkable intelligence and safety."
