Guiyang enterprise ramps up production with cutting-edge technologies

At Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group Wengfu Chemical Co, over 10 production lines operate at full capacity. "In 2024, our total purified phosphoric acid output reached a record-high 369,700 metric tons," said Li Weihong, vice general manager of Wengfu Chemical.

"This high production level is made possible by our globally leading wet-process phosphoric acid purification technology based on microstructure innovations," Weng said.

This technology has already been industrialized in Shanghang county in Fujian province and Dazhou city in Sichuan province. Its single-unit capacity exceeds 400,000 tons, its annual output exceeds two million tons, and its annual production value exceeds 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion).

Wengfu Lantian Fluorosilicon Technology Co, another subsidiary of Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group, recently exported 90 tons of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride to Laos. This achievement is attributed to the group’s groundbreaking technology for recovering fluorine from phosphate ores, which revolutionized the traditional process that relied solely on non-renewable fluorspar.

"By extracting the mere 3 percent fluorine content from phosphate ore and converting it into anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, our process reduces production costs by over 50 percent compared to the traditional fluorspar method. This not only conserves the depleting fluorspar resources but also provides China with a sustainable pathway for strategic fluorine resource acquisition," explained a researcher from the group.

Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Group has established a production capacity of 210,000 tons nationwide, generating an annual output value of over 2 billion yuan.

"Using our cutting-edge wet-process phosphoric acid purification technology, we are accelerating a new round of capacity expansion," said a representative of the group. "By the second half of 2025, we plan to increase our purified phosphoric acid capacity from 2 million to 2.7 million tons, reaching 3 million tons by 2026." This expansion will support the life sciences, new energy, and electronics industries.
