Guizhou holds sci-tech awards conference

The Guizhou Province Science and Technology Awards Conference was held on Nov 4 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The conference awarded the province's highest science and technology award of 2024, as well as 39 Guizhou province natural science awards, two technology invention awards, 78 science and technology progress awards, and one science and technology cooperation award.

Xiong Qing, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of Guizhou Province, said that the awards recognize new achievements in the coordinated promotion of scientific and technological innovation and industrial development in Guizhou province. He added that the supporting role of scientific and technological innovation in industrial development continues to strengthen.

Among the technology invention awards and scientific and technological progress awards, projects led or participated in by enterprises account for 76.3 percent, and projects focusing on Guizhou's characteristic modern industrial system for scientific and technological innovation account for 92.5 percent.

In 2024, Guizhou registered 15,236 technology contracts, an increase of 32.1 percent over the previous year, with a total transaction amount of 61.58 billion yuan ($8.65 billion), a year-on-year increase of 25.4 percent.
