Guiyang establishes research equipment sharing platform

Guiyang Science and Technology Service Platform has developed a shared hardware system for research, targeting the challenges faced by small- and medium-sized tech enterprises, such as the high costs of purchasing research equipment and a lack of testing and pilot production facilities.

This initiative bridges the gap between technological R&D and mass production, addressing key hurdles in business development.

The platform integrates 23 professional service providers, including Guizhou Zhongchuang Instrument Cloud and Guizhou Chenxi Electronics, forming a complementary system of general-purpose equipment and testing solutions for specific fields. Zhongchuang Instrument Cloud operates a provincial-level large-scale research equipment sharing platform, connecting 319 units with 4,748 pieces of equipment collectively valued at 2.38 billion yuan ($327 million).

Utilizing IoT technology for online scheduling and the booking of instruments, the platform has increased the number of enterprises it services from 652 to 1,860, adopting an on-demand rental model to minimize businesses' hardware investment.

Chenxi Electronics specializes in integrated circuits and power device testing and verification. With 64 pieces of professional equipment, it operates a wafer testing and packaging verification center capable of performing chip design, reliability testing, and process verification. These efforts have promoted the localization of advanced analog chips and silicon carbide devices. The center has connected with multiple national research institutions, generating revenues of over 5 million yuan.

Relying on these two key institutions, Guiyang Science and Technology Service Platform has built an ecosystem that fully covers research hardware services. It provides a complete chain of services, including equipment rental, sample testing, and pilot trials, effectively lowering the regional innovation and R&D threshold.
