China-Thailand digital economy exchange event held at Big Data Expo

A "China-Thailand Digital Economy Cooperation" exchange event was held on Aug 29. Organized by the Big Data Expo Organizing Committee and co-hosted by the China Information Association and the Asia International Trade and Investment Chamber, the event welcomed over 200 representatives from the governments and enterprises of both China and Thailand, with discussions focused on cross-border data exchange, AI innovation, cybersecurity, international business expansion, and joint talent development.

Shen Changxiang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote report on building a trustworthy cybersecurity framework.

Thai representatives from Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) shared updates on the progress of their digital government reforms, digital economy support policies, and investment opportunities, while expressing their needs for joint digital talent training programs.

Representatives from trade chambers analyzed Thailand's digital transformation needs and recommended that Chinese enterprises prioritize investment in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

Three major outcomes were announced at the event: The 2026 China-Thailand Digital Economy Cooperation Annual Report, which projected that bilateral digital trade will exceed 110 billion yuan ($15.07 billion) by 2025; the unveiling of 14 case studies of successful China-Thailand digital economy projects; and the launch of the world’s first embodied intelligent cultural tourism consumption (Guizhou) immersive training initiative, aimed at providing a model for embodied intelligence cooperation among ASEAN nations.
